My Journey

So here I go… 

      My name is Mary and I am the creative designer, manufacturer, warehouse and office manager of Ebony Road! As a lover of beautiful candles, five years ago I started to make them for my personal use. Family and friends always commented on the beautiful scent throughout the house and how they felt calm and relaxed whenever they came to visit. It didn't take long for people to start ordering candles from me and so the inspiration for 'Ebony Road' was born. Little did I know that this ‘hobby’ would  soon help me with what was about to unfold in my life.

       I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer a few months after I started Ebony Road, I went into total shock and disbelief, making candles was the furthest thing on my mind, I even stopped burning them in my home.  I was in a very dark place to say the least. Months after surgery, treatments and recovery my daughter lit a candle for me while I was meditating, I started to feel less anxious and calm. Within days I was back making my candles. Sitting in my workspace doing what I truly love, creating candles helped me on my road to recovery, life was great.

      Three years later, my world came crumbling down again, I had a Breast Cancer reoccurrence resulting in a double Mastectomy. After the initial shock I looked at things differently, I knew I would beat this. I started my healing journey again not just physically but mentally and that was because of you, my supporters, followers, friends and family. Your encouragement spurred me on to keep doing what I have a real passion for, so I thank you for believing in not only me but Ebony Road also. 

    I have been inspired and humbled by the stories of courageous individuals who have started Home Businesses. The way they dealt with obstacles, the wonderful helpful people they met on the way and of course seeing their products enjoyed by so many. Knowing something I made is in YOUR home and enjoyed by you and your family, makes me so proud of not only my Candles but myself also , so thank you and enjoy !

   We all have a story to tell, good or bad, happy or sad, so whatever your Journey is in life make it a scented one. I feel truly blessed to have been able to share mine with you .
